Threat Intelligence (TIP)
Aggregates and operationalizes threat intelligence.
Overview
Threat-intelligence platforms collect, enrich, and distribute indicators and adversary context to detection and response tools. They sharpen prioritization and proactive defense. Commercial feeds plus a platform drive cost; open-source platforms are mature. Value depends on relevance and integration, not feed volume.
Operationalized intel needs a working detection program to feed.
Advantages
- Recorded Future rich context
- Mandiant elite IR-grade intel
- MISP/OpenCTI free and strong
- sharpens prioritization.
Trade-offs
- Feed overload and relevance issues
- premium intel pricing
- only valuable if operationalized
- integration effort.
Open-source option
MISP and OpenCTI are both mature, widely-deployed open-source threat-intel platforms — MISP in particular is a de facto community standard for IOC sharing — so this area has strong genuine OSS coverage even though the field was previously unset.
